Job Title: Site Engineer – Highways & Landscaping

Location: Gloucester, UK
Contract Type: Freelance (Inside IR35)
Duration: Minimum 6 Months (Potential for Extension)
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure project based in Gloucester. The successful candidate will have proven experience working on highways schemes with strong landscaping knowledge, ensuring all works are delivered to high safety and quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to contribute to a high-profile project with a reputable main contractor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting out, surveying, and supervising works in accordance with project specifications and drawings.
• Ensuring all works comply with current health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Overseeing highways and landscaping elements, including kerbing, drainage, soft/hard landscaping, and associated works.
• Maintaining accurate site records, quality assurance checks, and as-built documentation.
• Liaising with project managers, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure smooth delivery.
• Conducting CAT & Genny surveys prior to excavation and ensuring safe working around services.
• Managing materials, plant, and site logistics as required.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on highways projects.
• Strong landscaping experience – both soft and hard landscaping preferred.
• Valid CAT & Genny Certificate (in date) – essential.
• Proficient in setting out instruments (e.g., Leica, Trimble, or similar).
• Excellent understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• CSCS card and SMSTS/SSSTS certification preferred.
• Full UK driving licence.

Contract Details:

• IR35 Status: Inside IR35
• Rate: Competitive day rate (dependant on experience)
• Duration: 6 months minimum (likely extension)
• Location: Gloucester – site-based role
