Our client is now 18 months into a 7-year contract for the maintenance and improvement of the Defence Built Estate in the South East and have supported the defence sector for over 70 years in delivering maintenance and repair, project management, and refurbishment services to both operational and support facilities.
From large scale re-developments, through to minor refurbishments, their expert teams collaborate with key stakeholders to streamline designs and value engineer project briefs
We are currently recruiting for an Electrician to undertake effective, compliant and timely delivery of planned and reactive electrical maintenance tasks at Imjin Barracks and the surrounding area.
We are currently recruiting for a Billable Works Manager who will join our direct delivery team, managing a large pipeline of small project works up to £25k across Southwick Park and surrounding locations.

The role
Reporting into the Built Estate Manager you will will be responsible for overseeing the effective, compliant, and timely delivery of under £25K Billable Works in accordance with Government Regulatory and Statutory undertakings, complying with all Health & Safety and Environmental standards and policies.

This will include ensuring all billable work documentation/information is completed in a timely manner i.e. Statement of Need, Invoices, Purchase Orders, Maximo, etc.
Review Supply Partners Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure they are to an acceptable standard.
Confer with client, and the relevant Site Manager to agree scope & priorities of Billable Works on a regular basis.

Ensure appropriate project plans and budgets are in place to achieve programmes and financial commitments, whilst meeting the changing operational need.

This role will see you provide technical support and advice to DIO and the customer, providing optimal solutions to meet customer requirements. Whilst you manage cost and stakeholder expectations through excellent communication and sound commercial decisions to ensure we provide value for money, you will also ensure any complaints are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.
Other key responsibilities include;

  • Carrying out the duties of Temporary Works Coordinator and CDM Principal Designer/Principal Contractor.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption on site and initiate Billable Works as appropriate by the raising of Statements of Need.
  • Providing progress reports to internal and external customers.

Could this be for you
Within this role you will use your previous experience within facility management or built estates to manage small projects, including scoping/requirements gathering and your working knowledge of SFG20, CDM regulations and Asbestos to ensure high customer service.
You will need to hold a relevant industry health & safety qualification.
It is desirable that you hold an ONC/HNC or BTEC qualification within a Building/Civil Engineering or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering environment.
You will be computer literate with previous experience of working with CAFM systems such as Maximo being desirable.

The Company
Our client has recently been awarded a 7-year contract for the maintenance and improvement of the Defence Built Estate, to include in excess of 20,000 assets.
They are a new business, formed to deliver infrastructure, asset, and facilities management services into the UK Defence Sector. They are a 50:50 Joint Venture between 2 already established big players in the FM and Utilities markets with over 55 years’ experience.
They are committed to enabling Defence capability through maintaining and enhancing the built estate in which our Armed Forces live, work and train.

The role
The Senior Facilities Manager will be responsible the managing of the Reactive and Programmed Property Maintenance for all sites within area of responsibility and operate as the immediate escalation point for significant operational and delivery issues at site level.

  • Manage team and Supply Chain performance to ensure that all Reactive and Planned Maintenance key performance indicators are consistently achieved within area of responsibility.
  • Manage team and Supply Chain performance to ensure that all Projects <£25k are delivered to Time, Cost and Quality within area of responsibility.
  • Fully understand the operational role of the establishments within area of responsibility and the Key Stakeholders priorities to ensure optimal levels of support are provided to Unit outputs.
  • Ensuring that Statements of Need are drafted to support the Sustain/Maintain/Change Billable Works requirements needed to manage the estate effectively within area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring that all complaints are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner within area of responsibility.
  • To deputise for the Area Manager as and when required.

Could this be for you?
HNC, or equivalent, level qualification in a Building/Civil Engineering or Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Continuing Professional Development
Technical training to maintain and develop technical competence and awareness of
Asbestos / Legionella Responsible Persons within area of responsibility.
Emergency first aid qualification
Fire safety qualification
IOSH or equivalent qualification
