The Company
Our client has recently been awarded a 7-year contract for the maintenance and improvement of the Defence Built Estate in the South East and have supported the defence sector for over 70 years in delivering maintenance and repair, project management, and refurbishment services to both operational and support facilities.
From large scale re-developments, through to minor refurbishments, their expert teams collaborate with key stakeholders to streamline designs and value engineer project briefs.
The role
The Authorised Person (AP) is part of a team of Area AP’s which support the establishments within the area in the delivery of HFM activities to ensure compliance with JSP 375. The AP reports to the Area Manager, however, is appointed by the Authorising Engineer (part of the assurance team).

  • To produce Permits to Work,
  • To produce and issue Standing Instructions,
  • To assess candidates and issue Skilled Persons Appointments.
  • To prepare for audits and support the auditor during this audit.
  • To take ownership and lead the remediation/closure of Corrective Action Reports (CARs),
  • Regularly review the Skilled Persons register and keep up to date,
  • Provide technical support as required.

  • Electrical Qualifications, ideally EIC QS
  • Authorised persons qualification (Highly desirable)
  • MOD/Defence sector experience (Highly desirable)
  • Technical qualifications & training as requiredbyJSP 375, including:
    • Emergency first aid
    • Fire safety
    • Management level qualification in H&S and Environment (e.g. SMSTS)
    • Continuing Professional Development

The role is for a multi-disciplinary AP. Through a reasonable (and agreed) period of time, via formal training, peer support and site familiarity; the AP will take on disciplines as detailed below. Depending on the candidate’s background, the strongest will usually be attained first;

  • Electrical (HV, LV, Hazardous Areas, Aeronautical Ground Lighting)

We are hiring for a Payroll Supervisor
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000

Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Payroll & Compliance Supervisor will take responsibility for the day-to-day compliance and contract payroll function, from client and candidate onboarding, document checking, and integrity of system data, through to the processing of timesheets and adjustments in preparation of the weekly contractor payroll to strict timescales.

Working alongside the internal contract recruitment team and as the key contact with our payroll service provider and external umbrella companies, the role holder will also supervise a payroll and compliance administrator. As a two-person team, there will be an emphasis on developing processes to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness for all things compliance and payroll related.

Skills & Experience Required

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a weekly payroll environment.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills.
  • Can prioritise and remain clam under pressure.
  • Can communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Possess a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to coach and develop an assistant / trainee / apprentice.
  • Works well in a team, but is equally able to use own initiative to solve problems


  • Previous knowledge and experience using RSM InTime.
  • Previous supervisory / managerial experience.
