Section Engineer – Major Project – Kent

Location: Kent
Rate: £470 per day PAYE Umbrella (Inside IR35)

We are currently seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in Kent on a long-term contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile scheme with a leading project team, supporting the successful delivery of complex civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and manage 3-week lookahead programmes aligned with the main project programme
  • Monitor progress, identify programme variances and escalate issues where required
  • Review permanent and temporary works designs ahead of construction activities
  • Support and mentor Site Engineers and Apprentices on specifications, standards and setting out
  • Prepare and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for self-delivered and subcontract works
  • Carry out quality audits, raise NCRs where necessary and ensure corrective actions are closed out
  • Review material approvals and subcontractor submissions
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with environmental, sustainability and carbon reduction commitments
  • Coordinate with community and stakeholder teams to minimise disruption and support engagement activities
  • Monitor labour, plant and material usage in line with project cost plans
  • Support procurement activities and oversee requisition processes
  • Assist with project handover documentation including redlines, construction certificates, O&M manuals and H&S files
  • Lead and coach engineering teams to maintain high standards across delivery

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
  • Strong leadership, planning and communication skills
  • Good understanding of construction regulations, quality assurance and best practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and meet programme deadlines
  • Engineering or Construction Management qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • CSCS Card
  • Fit for Work Medical
  • Ability to complete Pre-Start Drug & Alcohol Test
  • BPSS Security Clearance eligibility (Basic DBS required)

Planning Engineer

Kent | 12-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Site-Based (4 Days/Week)
We are recruiting for a Planning Engineer to support a major nuclear defueling and decommissioning programme in Kent. This is a unique opportunity to work on a first-of-its-kind project in the UK, within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.
This is a 12-month contract role, requiring site attendance 4 days per week, and is inside IR35.


Role Overview

As part of the Project Controls team, you will work closely with Project Managers to develop, manage, and maintain project schedules. You will play a key role in integrating cost, risk, resources, and change into robust project plans, supporting effective delivery and performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed, logic-linked project schedules
  • Establish and manage cost and resource-loaded baseline plans
  • Monitor progress, analyse performance, and report on schedule metrics
  • Implement and lead Earned Value Management (EVM) practices
  • Maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project control frameworks
  • Challenge variances and ensure alignment with project baselines
  • Collaborate with project controls teams to ensure financial and schedule integration

Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong experience using Primavera P6
  • Proven ability to develop cost and resource-loaded plans
  • Experience with Earned Value Analysis (EVA/EVM)
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in project controls or project delivery within regulated industries (e.g. nuclear)
  • Understanding of estimating, risk, and scheduling tools
  • HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
