Senior Building Services Electrical Engineer (Data Centre Project)

Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Senior Building Services Electrical Engineer to join our team for a 6-month contract, focusing on a high-profile data centre project. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of electrical systems in critical environments, excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working closely with the end client. This is a hybrid role, with flexibility to work in London or remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Deliver and manage complex electrical engineering solutions for data centre environments, including power distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, and critical infrastructure.
- Design & Documentation: Lead the preparation of detailed electrical design drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with client requirements and industry standards.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs are fully compliant with data centre standards (such as Tier III/Tier IV), and all relevant regulations, codes, and best practices.
- Client Interaction: Act as the key point of contact for the end client, providing technical advice, project updates, and ensuring all deliverables meet the client’s expectations.
- Coordination & Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural, etc.), project managers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of all services.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve any technical challenges or risks that may arise during the design and construction phases.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee and ensure the quality of all electrical engineering deliverables, conducting reviews and providing guidance to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
- Project Management Support: Support project managers in tracking progress, budgets, and schedules, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in building services electrical engineering, with a focus on data centre or critical infrastructure projects.
- Data Centre Expertise: Proven experience in designing and delivering electrical systems for data centres, with a strong understanding of Tier certification, redundancy, and resilience requirements.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in electrical design software and familiarity with relevant design standards (such as BS7671, IEC, etc.) and data centre best practices.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical regulations, health and safety, and energy efficiency standards.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Client-Focused: Comfortable working directly with the end client, managing expectations, and building strong professional relationships.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to address complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Adaptability: Able to work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and timelines.
Additional Information:
- Working Hours: Full-time, with flexibility for remote working.
- Location: Hybrid role with the option to work in London or remotely.
- Contract: Initial 6-month contract, Outside IR35, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements and performance.
- Rate: £45 per hour.
