Senior Quantity Surveyor – Oldham

Location: Oldham
Rate: £575-£600 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: 3-6 Month Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2-3 days working from home
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure programme delivering drainage works on the SDS North West Framework. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing commercial team on a long-term framework with an immediate start available.
The successful candidate will play a key role in commercial management, contract administration, cost control, and performance reporting, ensuring projects are delivered in line with contractual and financial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract Responsibilities

  • Support tender activity and supplier engagement processes
  • Work closely with Procurement teams to define work packages and contract terms
  • Assist with tender evaluations and contract award recommendations

Valuation & Change Management

  • Produce accurate and contract-compliant valuations and applications
  • Review and assure valuations completed by other team members
  • Monitor certifications, payments, and cash receipts
  • Manage disputes, rejections, and non-compliance issues
  • Maintain contract administration processes including notices and formal correspondence
  • Mentor and support junior commercial staff where required

Supply Chain & Cost Management

  • Validate cost data and financial information from internal systems
  • Maintain accurate accruals and support margin performance reporting
  • Build strong working relationships with subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • Manage subcontract administration including onboarding, notices, and final accounts
  • Support project-wide cost management planning activities

Cost & Financial Reporting

  • Review actual costs, accruals, liabilities, and commercial reporting data
  • Ensure reporting is completed accurately and to required standards
  • Support risk and opportunity management processes
  • Maintain cost management plans aligned with business requirements

Commercial Record Keeping

  • Maintain registers for valuations, payments, notices, and commercial correspondence
  • Ensure site records, diaries, and project returns are complete and up to date
  • Maintain subcontract documentation and supporting commercial records
  • Keep risk and opportunity registers updated throughout the project lifecycle

Contract Performance Reporting

  • Produce cashflow forecasts, WIP reports, and cost/value forecasts
  • Support pipeline and revenue forecasting activities
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly CVRs
  • Provide commercial insight on project risks, opportunities, and performance trends
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to validate SLA and KPI performance

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure, highways, or civil engineering projects
  • NEC3 / NEC4 contract experience essential
  • Strong commercial administration and subcontract management experience
  • Experience delivering drainage or highways-related works desirable
  • Experience using CEMAR desirable
  • Previous experience working on National Highways frameworks desirable
  • Strong understanding of valuations, CVRs, forecasting, and change management
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced project environment
