Mechanical Fitter – Culham, Oxfordshire
Location: Culham, Oxfordshire (100% site-based)
Rate: Up to £35.00 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)
Contract: Until June 2027

We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to support ongoing mechanical maintenance, assembly and installation works on a major industrial site in Culham. This is a long-term contract opportunity working within a highly technical engineering environment.
The Role
- Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly and installation activities
- Support the maintenance, modification and improvement of mechanical equipment
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Work to a high standard of accuracy while following quality procedures
- Work safely in accordance with written safe systems of work and site procedures
- Liaise with other engineering teams to complete work efficiently and safely
- Complete maintenance and quality documentation accurately
Essential Requirements
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial or engineering environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings
- Good understanding of quality assurance processes and documentation
- Experience working under Written Safe Systems of Work or Method Statements
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Competent using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Desirable
- Knowledge of vacuum systems and good vacuum practices
- Experience working with industrial cooling systems
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term engineering project, with work available through to June 2027. Immediate starts are available, subject to BPSS clearance and successful onboarding.
