We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager (Mechanical) to support a major programme within a highly regulated nuclear environment. This role requires a technically strong, self-starting professional with deep experience in mechanical systems, commissioning processes, and documentation within controlled environments.
Role Overview
- Lead and manage commissioning activities across mechanical systems and associated infrastructure
- Oversee full commissioning lifecycle including planning, execution, and handover
- Manage and review commissioning documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems are delivered safely and to specification
- Act as a technical authority on mechanical commissioning matters
Systems & Technical Scope
- Mechanical plant and building services systems
- Gas systems and associated equipment (e.g. compressed air, specialist gases)
- HVAC and ventilation systems
- Pressure systems and distribution networks
- Interface with electrical and control systems where required
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities
- Review and approve commissioning plans, procedures, and test packs
- Ensure all commissioning activities meet stringent regulatory and safety standards
- Produce and manage detailed commissioning reports and technical documentation
- Drive issue resolution and ensure readiness for system handover
- Maintain a strong focus on compliance within a highly regulated / nuclear environment
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Commissioning Manager or Senior Commissioning Engineer role (mechanical bias)
- Strong background in gas systems, compressed air, or similar mechanical/process systems
- Extensive experience with SAT, FAT, and commissioning documentation/reporting
- Experience working in highly regulated environments (nuclear, defence, pharma, etc.)
- Excellent technical knowledge of mechanical systems and commissioning processes
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
- Valid CSCS card
- SC Clearance (or ability to obtain)
Highly Desirable
- Previous experience working on AWE projects or within the nuclear sector
- Experience in defence or other high-security environments
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical or related discipline)

Electrical Construction Engineer – AWE
Location: AWE Burghfield (site-based)
Rate: £450-£500/day (Umbrella PAYE, Inside IR35 – all-in)

We are recruiting an experienced Electrical Construction Engineer to support works at AWE. This is a heavy install / construction-focused role, suited to someone with a strong hands-on electrical background who has progressed into site engineering or delivery roles.
Role Overview
- Delivery of electrical installation works on a major, high-security site
- Oversight of LV / HV systems, installation, and integration
- Support commissioning, testing, and system handover
- Coordinate contractors and ensure compliance with site standards
- Drive safe, efficient delivery in a highly regulated (nuclear/defence) environment
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in electrical construction / site engineering on large-scale projects
- Strong LV / HV installation background (heavy install focus)
- Ideally from a time-served electrician background
- Valid CSCS card (mandatory)
- Experience in nuclear, defence, or other high-hazard environments
- SC Clearance (or ability to obtain)
Electrical Qualifications & Tickets
- City & Guilds 2360 / 2330 / NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing (highly desirable)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- ECS / JIB Gold Card (desirable)

- Support FAT / SAT and full system lifecycle testing

We’re looking for an experienced SHE Advisor to support site operations at AWE. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring a proactive approach to safety, health, and environmental management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day SHE support across site activities
- Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and site procedures
- Support incident investigations and reporting

Requirements
- Valid CSCS Card (essential)
- Recognised H&S qualifications, such as:
