The Company

Our client, a reputable countrywide engineering firm are looking for a number of Telemetry field engineers to support their end client Scottish Water.

The role

This position will be supporting Scottish Water on their PSTN replacement programme across the region in a mobile position. This scheme will involve travelling to sometimes remote locations to install replacement telemetry equipment on Scottish Water assets. The base location for this position would be Grangemouth but the vast majority of working days will be spent out in the field, heading to jobs directly from you place of residence.

Principal accountabilities

  • Comply with all company Health and Safety requirements, processes and procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for safe use and care of company vehicle (van).
  • Manage equipment and materials supplies required for site work.
  • Travel to sites throughout Scotland.
  • Be prepared to spend some time away from home in overnight accommodation.
  • Working to defined procedures, carry out installation, modification and testing of Telemetry equipment and associated communications devices.
  • Completion of task related H&S documentation.
  • Completion of test documentation.

Special features

  • Some knowledge or experience of Telemetry systems would be advantageous.
  • Must be able to work under own initiative and be able to drive site work forward to completion within set timescales.
  • Must have a good level of Electrical/Electronic/Controls systems technical ability proven through “hands on” experience.
  • Must be a team player and able to integrate well into our existing Telemetry Engineering team. Field work will generally be carried out by 2-man Teams.

Academic qualifications

Job related experience

>2 years “hands on” experience in an Engineering environment.

The role

The Area Billable Works Manager is responsible for leading the Area team in planning and delivering all Billable Works to meet all contract outputs of the Regional Accommodation Maintenance Services contract.

Manage service delivery of all Billable Works in accordance with statutory legislation including MOD Mandatory requirements, complying with all Health and Safety and Environmental standards and policies.

Work closely with DIO, Operational Management team to make strategic and tactical decisions regarding asset management and deliver solutions in accordance with the principles of ISO 55001.

Improve the quality of customer service through effective and collaborative supply chain management and lead their service delivery team of all staff to ensure all targets are met in a safe and compliant way, within budget and programmed timescales.

Responsibilities:

* Monitor Supply Chain service delivery, quality, and safe working to ensure all performance indicators are consistently achieved, escalate any issues to the Supply Chain Manager

* Attend Risk Meetings, review risk registers and follow risk management processes, to minimise risk exposure and to provide a feedback loop to improve future project delivery.

* Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure they are to an acceptable standard

* Confer with Supply Chain, local Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) representatives and the Local Customer Service Representative to agree scope & priorities of Billable Works, and review management and tasks on a regular basis.

* Manage cost and stakeholder expectation through excellent communication and sound commercial decisions to ensure value for money.

* Manage area budgets and review profit and loss for effective delivery within contractual requirements.

* Monitor and review Supply Chain performance and maintain commercial control to enable planned milestone payments to be achieved.

* Establish and maintain a solid working relationship with the Area Principal Operations Manager, to ensure the core and billable works teams work collaboratively to provide a seamless service for the client and enhance the Lived Experience for the customer.

* Weekly Area Performance Meeting with DIO to ensure the planning and monitoring of service delivery is completed in a collaborative manner

* Develop your team to strive for excellence across service delivery, with the final aspiration of enhancing the customers Lived Experience

Could this be for you?

You will need significant practical management in Construction, Property Maintenance specifically within a Social Housing Environment:

* HND, or equivalent, level qualification in a Building/Civil Engineering or Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience

* Management level qualification in H&S and Environment (e.g. SMSTS)

Management of the operational delivery of Estate Management tasks and refurbishment projects

* Working knowledge of CDM regulations and Building Regulations

* Working knowledge of ISO 55000

* Experience of the Asbestos at Work Act, DDA, energy performance, Sustainability etc.

* Member of RICS, CIOB, CABE, BIFM
