Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer – Water Industry

Location: Hybrid (1 day per week on-site in [insert location])

Contract Type: Initial 6-month Contract

Rate: £400 per day (Outside IR35)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer with experience in the water industry to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working remotely with the requirement to be on-site one day per week. The position provides a competitive daily rate and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within the water sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for water treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and site personnel, to deliver high-quality design solutions.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design issues, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical design for the water sector.
  • Ensure all designs meet environmental and health & safety standards.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, preferably within the water industry.
  • Strong proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems, control panels, and instrumentation used in water treatment facilities.
  • Experience with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., BS7671, IEC, and other industry-specific codes).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Relevant certifications in electrical design or engineering.
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
