The Project Engineer will develop key relationships with UU operational personnel, supply chain partners, and promote a team environment, leading the projects under their control.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Ensure the supply chain remains compliant with the framework management plan, HASEMP, and all site-specific agreed documents.
    • Implement and ensure compliance with safe systems of work in line with SHE procedures.
    • Lead site collaborative planning and take ownership of the project look-ahead program.
    • Manage change control, liaising with the commercial team and Project Manager for subcontract management and change resolution.
    • Provide leadership to promote a safety culture, aiming for zero LTI and RIDDOR incidents.
    • Ensure a commercial focus with high scrutiny of project scope, identifying efficient delivery strategies, eliminating waste, and ensuring value-for-money solutions.
    • Engage all stakeholders and ensure their support for projects and services, managing potential impacts.
    • Ensure all projects comply with UU governance processes and obtain necessary approvals.
    • Ensure reliable project performance reporting, and provide monthly exception reports to the Project Manager.
    • Identify key project risks early and implement mitigations, escalating issues or blockers to the Project Manager as necessary.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the site team, driving a positive SHEQ culture and promoting improvement initiatives.
    • Identify delivery resource requirements and liaise with the Project Manager on resource needs in a timely manner.
    • Report project performance on SHEQ, time, and cost metrics monthly for portfolio reviews.
    • Strive to identify and deliver efficiencies.
    • Resolve blockers/issues and escalate those outside of your control or influence.
    • Ensure 100% SHEQ compliance with framework plans and project requirements.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and teams to foster positive relationships.
    • Ensure efficient project handover upon completion.
    • Manage both internal and external stakeholders, including customers affected by the project.
    • Ensure statutory approvals are obtained.
    • Contribute to monthly forecasting of cost and program for all projects.

    Candidate Specification:

    • Skills, knowledge, and experience in CDM and construction management as Principal Contractor.
    • Advanced understanding of customer impact and how to minimize disruption, ensuring their needs are addressed in every scheme.
    • Strong project management skills with a solid understanding of water and wastewater treatment.
    • Strong leadership and people management skills.
    • Excellent contract awareness and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks as needed.
