We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Agent to join a major highways and civil engineering project in Newton Abbot, with an ASAP start.
This is an excellent freelance opportunity for a proven Site Agent with strong experience delivering highways infrastructure projects and managing on-site operations from programme through to completion.
The contract runs through to the end of December, with further extension scope based on project requirements and performance.

The Role

As Site Agent, you will support the Project Manager with the day-to-day operational management of site activities, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing all on-site construction and civil engineering activities
• Ensuring full compliance with SHEQ and H&S standards
• Managing subcontractors, labour, plant, and materials
• Developing construction programmes, phasing plans, and method statements
• Monitoring delivery against programme and cost targets
• Working closely with the commercial / QS team on monthly cost reporting and compensation events
• Coordinating permits, RAMS, and safe systems of work
• Maintaining site records including diaries, quality documentation, and as-built information
• Liaising with key stakeholders, designers, utilities teams, and third parties
• Acting as the key on-site lead for operational delivery

Essential Requirements

• Valid CSCS Card
• SMSTS
• Proven highways project experience
• Strong background in site management on civil engineering / infrastructure schemes
• Excellent subcontractor and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

• Utilities / service diversion experience
• Civil Engineering qualification or related discipline
• Experience on local authority highways frameworks
• Strong understanding of compensation events and commercial reporting
