    Sub Agent – Peterborough

    £350-£370 per day (CIS / Umbrella)
    8-Month Contract
    Start: ASAP
    Interviews: ASAP
    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major civil engineering project in Peterborough, with an immediate start available.
    This role is ideal for someone with strong supervisory experience across structures or heavy civils, who can manage site activities, drive quality, and maintain high health & safety standards.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the Site Agent in planning, coordinating, and delivering daily site activities
    • Oversee subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification
    • Review and implement RAMS, ensuring full compliance on site
    • Manage permits (e.g. breaking ground, hot works, confined space, temporary works)
    • Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings
    • Monitor progress, productivity, and short-term programming (lookaheads)
    • Maintain accurate site diaries, including labour, plant, and materials
    • Ensure quality standards are met through inspections, ITPs, and management of NCRs
    • Manage site records and contribute to handover documentation (O&Ms / H&S File)
    • Support lifting operations, plant compliance (PUWER), and lifting equipment (LOLER) processes
    • Liaise with H&S, environmental, commercial teams, and client representatives
    • Raise early warning notices (EWNs) and assist with resolving site issues

    Essential Requirements

    • Previous experience in a Sub Agent or supervisory role on civil engineering projects
    • Strong background in structures or bridge works (preferred)
    • Good understanding of temporary works coordination
    • Experience managing site operations, sequencing, and short-term planning
    • Knowledge of quality processes (ITPs, inspections, NCRs, handover documentation)
    • Confident with RAMS, permits, and health & safety compliance
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
    • Strong communication skills and proactive problem-solving approach

    Desirable

    • SSSTS or SMSTS strongly desirable
    • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects
    • Strong understanding of plant, lifting operations, and site compliance requirements
    • Ability to effectively coordinate multiple subcontractors and stakeholders
