Design the Future of Nuclear Infrastructure

We’re looking for an experienced Principal Civil, Structural & Architectural (CS&A) Designer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting a major nuclear programme in Cumbria.
This role sits within the Analytical Services Portfolio, where you’ll provide technical CS&A design support across a variety of multidisciplinary projects. Working on both new and existing facilities, you’ll play a key role in producing high-quality engineering designs from concept through to detailed design, helping deliver essential infrastructure within one of the UK’s most highly regulated environments.

    The Role

As Principal CS&A Designer, you will:

    • Produce high-quality civil and structural engineering designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
    • Deliver design solutions from concept, preliminary and detailed stages through to implementation.
    • Support multidisciplinary engineering teams across a range of analytical services projects.
    • Review project documentation to ensure compliance with standards, procedures and best practice.
    • Work closely with engineers and stakeholders to develop practical, buildable design solutions.
    • Ensure designs meet quality, safety and regulatory requirements.

    What We’re Looking For

You’ll be an experienced CS&A Designer with a strong background delivering engineering design within highly regulated industries.
    You’ll ideally have:

    • Around 5 years’ experience in civil and structural design.
    • Proven experience producing engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
    • Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects, ideally within nuclear, defence or other highly regulated sectors.
    • Knowledge of engineering design principles and lifecycle design.
    • Understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant engineering legislation.
    • Experience with reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, drainage and earthworks design.
    • Familiarity with nuclear industry standards and document management systems.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    Desirable Experience

    • Experience using Gimage or similar design/document management systems.
    • Previous work supporting brownfield or asset care projects.
    • Understanding of the requirements for working within licensed nuclear facilities.

    Security Requirements

Candidates should be eligible to obtain:

    • BPSS Clearance
    • Sellafield Site Clearance (SC desirable)
    • P4 Pass (required before commencing project work)

    Why Apply?

    • Competitive £41-£45/hour Inside IR35
    • Hybrid working with 1-2 days per week on site at Westlakes, Cumbria
    • Long-term contract on a high-profile nuclear programme
    • Opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a collaborative multidisciplinary team
    • Excellent opportunity to further develop your career in the UK nuclear sector
