Section Engineer – Lower Thames Crossing

Location: Lower Thames Crossing – Roads North Project
Rate: £500-£520 per day
Contract: 6 months

We are currently seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) Roads North Project, working with a major Tier 1 contractor on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in a similar Section Engineer or Senior Production Engineer role, ideally gained on large-scale infrastructure projects. The role will involve leading and supporting Site Engineers across production, engineering, quality, programme and handover activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce three-week lookahead programmes aligned with the stage programme.
• Monitor progress, record and report programme variances.
• Review permanent and temporary design drawings ahead of works and resolve design queries.
• Provide guidance and coaching to engineers on specifications, standards and setting out.
• Develop and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for self-delivered works and subcontractor activities.
• Carry out weekly audits of Site Engineer reports and records.
• Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
• Produce Material Approvals and review subcontractor submissions.
• Produce Works Package Plans and conduct weekly safety tours.
• Ensure works comply with LTC specifications, environmental requirements and project standards.
• Ensure plant and materials are appropriately resourced and procured.
• Produce and approve redlines and compile construction certificates.
• Provide input into O&M manuals and H&S files.
• Lead, support and coach Site Engineers and Apprentices.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar Section Engineer / Senior Production Engineer role.
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of construction regulations and best practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Engineering or Construction Management qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• CSCS.
• Ability to complete a fit-for-work medical.
• Ability to pass a pre-start drug and alcohol test.
• Ability to obtain BPSS Security Clearance, including provision of a basic DBS check.
