Clearance: Must be able to obtain BPSS clearance

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support a major nuclear new-build project.
You will provide technical leadership across geotechnical design, ensuring ground conditions, foundations and stability risks are properly assessed and integrated with the wider civil and structural design.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Develop and review the geotechnical design basis and site-wide ground model.
      • Assess ground risks, including settlement, liquefaction, bearing capacity and slope stability.
      • Lead the development and review of foundation, earthworks and ground improvement solutions.
      • Provide technical input into seismic assessments, extreme hazards and soil-structure interaction.
      • Coordinate geotechnical design with civil, structural, safety and construction teams.
      • Support design assurance, safety case documentation and regulatory submissions.
      • Identify technical risks and support practical, buildable engineering solutions.

      Essential Experience

      • Strong experience in geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, and ground improvement.
      • Experience on nuclear, defence or similarly regulated infrastructure projects.
      • Knowledge of foundation design, ground stability, seismic considerations and complex structures.
      • Experience coordinating geotechnical design across multiple engineering disciplines.
      • Strong technical judgement and the ability to manage and justify engineering risks.

      Desirable

      • Experience within a Design Authority or Intelligent Client environment.
      • Familiarity with nuclear safety cases and relevant UK standards.
      • Experience with BIM, digital twins or digital engineering environments.
      • Background in complex new-build or first-of-a-kind projects.

If you have strong geotechnical engineering expertise and experience supporting complex, highly regulated projects, we’d like to hear from you.
