CE&I Control System Design Engineer – PES-Based Control Systems
Warrington | Hybrid – 3 days on site
      £51-£56/hour | Inside IR35

Are you a CE&I Control System Design Engineer with strong experience in Programmable Electronic Systems (PES)? This is an excellent opportunity to join the Silos MSSS SEP 1 & 2 programme, contributing to a nationally significant, safety-critical project within a highly regulated environment.
You’ll be embedded within the CE&I design team, focused on the design, update and verification of PES-based control systems. While implementation, testing and commissioning are delivered by dedicated site teams, your work will be fundamental in ensuring designs are robust, compliant and ready for safe delivery.

      The Role
      You will be responsible for:

      • Delivering and checking PES-based Control System designs and updates to meet functional and business requirements
      • Supporting other engineers in the delivery of high-quality CE&I design outputs
      • Working collaboratively across disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions
      • Producing clear, compliant documentation aligned with relevant engineering standards
      • Providing technical support to Commissioning teams as required
      • Supporting and mentoring early-career engineers

This is a design-focused role, ideal for engineers who enjoy technical ownership without the need for on-site implementation responsibilities.

      What We’re Looking For
      Essential
Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards)
3+ years’ experience delivering PES-based Control System designs on external multi-discipline projects
Proven experience from concept design through to handover
Working knowledge of relevant engineering standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills
      Experience providing support to Commissioning
Willingness to support and develop junior engineers

      Desirable
5+ years’ experience delivering PES-based Control System design on external and/or SL multi-discipline projects
Strong understanding of design updates to existing control systems in regulated environments
      A pragmatic, solutions-driven engineering approach

      Why Join This Programme?

      • Competitive £51-£56/hour (Inside IR35)
      • Hybrid working – 3 days on site in Warrington
      • Long-term, high-profile role on a major nuclear infrastructure programme
      • Strong, experienced design team with real technical depth
      • Opportunity to influence critical control system designs while mentoring others
