Rate: £450-£500 per day

We are currently looking for experienced Commissioning Engineers to work on major water and wastewater process engineering projects in Hertfordshire and Surrey.
The successful candidates will have a strong background in commissioning and installation within the water industry, with experience working for a main contractor across multi-discipline M&E and process engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee commissioning and systems integration activities throughout the project lifecycle, from design through to handover.
Develop and manage commissioning plans, procedures and associated documentation.
Coordinate installation and commissioning activities with subcontractors, suppliers, design teams and third-party engineers.
Lead and witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in line with ITPs.
Ensure equipment is FAT tested, snag-free and ready for site delivery.
Undertake hands-on commissioning activities, including configuration and calibration of analytical equipment and integration with monitoring systems.
Supervise and inspect subcontractor installations, ensuring compliance with quality standards, RAMS and ITPs.
Review and interpret electrical/mechanical schematics, FDS and P&IDs, identifying and initiating design changes where required.
Manage defects, snagging and close-out through to successful handover.
Capture and maintain accurate installation, testing and commissioning records.
Monitor supply chain performance against KPIs/KPMs and drive continuous improvement.
Contribute to project programmes and manage commissioning inputs, changes and updates.
Provide regular progress reports and technical updates to senior management and the Core Management Team.
Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) through site surveys, system reviews and technical input.
Promote and implement SHEQ and behavioural improvement initiatives.
Deliver training to client operations and maintenance teams on new process plant and equipment.
Act as a front-line supervisor during installation and commissioning phases.
Undertake either an Electrical Authorised Person (AP) or Mechanical AP role, subject to assessment and training.
Apply structured commissioning methodologies and best practice across water and wastewater processes.
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide effective, analytical solutions.
Ensure all commissioning activities are delivered safely, compliantly, to programme and to the required quality standards.
Requirements
Previous experience working for a main contractor on water and wastewater process engineering projects.
Minimum 3 years’ experience, preferably in a commissioning role within the water industry.
HNC/Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline, or an engineering apprenticeship/NVQ with relevant multi-discipline engineering experience.
Proven experience delivering installation and commissioning projects through to handover.
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical installation and commissioning processes.
Good knowledge of relevant standards, safety rules and statutory legislation.
Strong engineering and technical understanding across multi-discipline projects.
Ability to lead site teams when required and work effectively with subcontractors and third parties.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in client-facing environments.
Ability to work independently, self-manage and operate in a structured and organised manner.
Proactive approach with the confidence to challenge issues and identify value engineering opportunities.
Meticulous approach to documentation and technical delivery.

CompEx qualifications are preferred.
This is a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and timely delivery of commissioning activities. The position requires a technically strong individual who can take ownership of commissioning, installation and systems integration while working closely with the wider project team and client.
