General Worker (Mechanical)

Location: Culham, Abingdon (Full-Time On Site)
Rate: Up to £35.00 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Until August 2027
Security Clearance: BPSS Required

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on General Worker with a mechanical or industrial background to support mechanical technicians and fitters on a long-term engineering programme.
This role involves assisting with maintenance, installation, assembly and modification work, while ensuring high standards of health, safety and quality are maintained throughout.

Key Responsibilities

• Support mechanical technicians and fitters with maintenance and installation activities.
• Carry out general mechanical assembly and construction tasks.
• Move, store and maintain tools, equipment and materials.
• Keep work areas clean, organised and safe.
• Assist with documentation and maintenance records.
• Work to safe systems of work and method statements.
• Liaise with other teams to complete tasks efficiently.

Requirements

• Mechanical, industrial or engineering background.
• Experience working in a manufacturing, construction, maintenance or engineering environment.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and basic computer skills.
