The role involves working on a variety of bids and tenders, including several secured long-term contracts and frameworks across the UK in the construction, water, wastewater, and utilities sectors. As part of a team, the Estimator will play a key role in identifying opportunities, analyzing bids, tenders, and related documentation to prepare activity schedules covering time, material, labor variables, and costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating within a team to gather information, develop proposals, and manage the flow of information.
- Preparing accurate estimates and tender bids based on client documentation, specifications, and relevant standards.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifying suitable suppliers and subcontractors from databases or preferred supplier lists.
- Generating inquiries, obtaining, and analyzing quotes for tender requirements from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Securing competitive quotations and pre-bid agreements.
- Compiling detailed price lists and bills of quantities for each project, including costs for personnel, equipment, materials, transport, labor, and hire requirements to support tender submissions.
- Providing progress updates on all bid and tender opportunities.
Skills/Qualifications:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline (e.g., Electrical/Engineering, Construction/Quantity Surveying) or 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
- A full UK driving license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
