Are you an experienced Project/Facility Engineer with a background in live operational facilities and highly regulated environments?
We’re supporting a major nuclear programme and are looking for a practical, solutions-focused engineer who can bridge the gap between operations and project delivery, ensuring engineering improvements are safely and effectively implemented within an operational facility.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term programme where your expertise will directly support the safe operation and ongoing enhancement of critical infrastructure.
    The Role
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide engineering support across operational and project interfaces, translating plant issues into practical engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with strict safety and governance requirements.
You’ll play a key role in supporting engineering delivery within live facilities, developing work packs, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring work is executed safely and efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and produce detailed engineering work packs for facility modifications and maintenance activities
    • Support engineering delivery within live operational facilities
    • Translate operational issues into practical, deliverable engineering solutions
    • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to coordinate engineering activities
    • Provide engineering support for mechanical and/or Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems
    • Ensure activities comply with site procedures, safety cases, and regulatory requirements
    • Support or undertake Authorised/Area Control Manager (ACM) type responsibilities where required
    • Contribute to safe planning and execution of engineering activities within a nuclear operational environment

    Essential Experience

    • 10+ years’ experience in facility engineering and/or project engineering roles
    • Experience working within operational facilities in regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, process, or similar
    • Proven experience developing engineering work packs
    • Experience supporting engineering delivery within live facilities
    • Strong practical knowledge of Mechanical or Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems
    • Ability to translate operational challenges into effective engineering solutions
    • Experience working across operations and project interfaces
    • Previous experience undertaking or supporting Authorised Person/Area Control Manager (ACM) type responsibilities
    • Nuclear decommissioning or operational experience is highly desirable

    Qualifications

    • Degree, HNC or HND in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
    • Membership of a recognised engineering institution (or working towards)
    • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards is desirable
    • Strong understanding of engineering governance, standards, and working within highly regulated environments
