Section Engineer
Section Engineer – Coventry – £450/day (Inside IR35) – 8 Month Contract (Extension Likely)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term contract with strong potential for extension, working across a range of earthworks, drainage, and roadworks packages.
Role Overview
As Section Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting delivery on site, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for overseeing site engineering activities while supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Site setting out for earthworks, drainage, and roadworks
- Mentoring and supporting Site Engineers
- Requesting and managing permits to dig
- Interpreting drawings and raising Field Change Requests (FCRs) where required
- Managing and understanding QA processes, including:
- Raising non-conformities
- Attending inspections
- Maintaining quality records
- Reviewing site diaries
- Producing and maintaining 6-12 week lookahead programmes
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with health, safety, and environmental standards
Requirements (Essential)
- Valid CSCS Card
- SMSTS / SSSTS certification
- CAT & Genny trained
- Proven experience delivering civil engineering works (earthworks, drainage, roadworks)
- Strong setting out and engineering background
Contract Details
- Location: Coventry
- Rate: £450 per day (Inside IR35)
- Duration: 8 months minimum
- Start: ASAP
- Hours: Standard site hours
