      The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Agent to join a major highways and structures infrastructure scheme near King’s Lynn, connecting new housing developments to the strategic road network. The project involves new carriageway construction, active travel routes, roundabouts, structures works, and improvements to national highway assets – a high-profile, technically varied scheme spanning design, early contractor involvement, and full construction delivery.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will support early contractor involvement (ECI) activities before leading construction operations for a specific discipline (Structures or Highways), ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required quality, on time and within budget, in full compliance with design, planning, and stakeholder requirements.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Put safety above all else and lead by example
      • Promote a Right First-Time approach to quality and avoid rework
      • Manage on-site survey works and support ECI activities including buildability input and cost forecasting
      • Develop buildable solutions with the design team and suppliers
      • Provide construction leadership and manage all aspects of construction for your discipline
      • Manage a team of engineering staff and collaborate with the wider project team
      • Support the Construction Manager in all construction matters, including handover
      • Provide planning and procurement support, including subcontract activities
      • Review contractual agreements, working methods, programme and forecast costs with the Estimator, General Foreman and Subcontractors/Suppliers
      • Prepare and review programmes and forecast budgets, taking corrective action where required
      • Manage subcontractor accounts and be fully conversant with subcontract conditions
      • Ensure resources are requisitioned/approved in a timely manner to protect programme
      • Ensure non-conformances and client/designer/NEC Supervisor instructions are communicated to QA and commercial teams
      • Maintain comprehensive site records, daily diaries, and documentation of variations and discussions
      • Ensure ITPs, risk assessments and method statements are reviewed, approved and adhered to
      • Act as or manage Lifting AP and Temporary Works Co-ordinator

      Essential Skills & Experience

      • 7+ years’ experience in construction delivery, ideally with 3+ years in a management position (e.g. Agent/Sub-Agent)
      • Knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards and procedures
      • Experience working within a Principal Contractor environment
      • Knowledge and experience of Temporary Works procedures
      • Behavioural Management training
      • Understanding of engineering principles
      • Knowledge of forms of contract through experience and/or formal training
      • Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
      • Computer competent (MS Word, Excel, document control systems)
      • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering (or allied subject), or equivalent vocational training/experience
      • Relevant CSCS card
      • SMSTS or equivalent H&S qualification

      Desirable

      • Experience of handover processes
      • Highway (Strategic Road Network) construction experience, including traffic management planning and delivery
      • Experience of earthworks and stabilised pavement construction
      • Temporary Works Co-ordinator and/or Lifting AP qualification
      • Professionally qualified or working towards professional qualification

      What’s on Offer

      • £450-£530 per day, PAYE/Umbrella (rate dependent on relevant engineering qualifications/degree background)
      • 6-month contract on a major, high-profile infrastructure scheme
      • Broad scope of work spanning ECI, structures, and highways construction
