Senior General Foreman

Water Infrastructure Projects

Highfield Professional Solutions are currently seeking an experienced Senior General Foreman to join a major water infrastructure project team based out of Peterborough.

This is a site-based role overseeing projects from inception through to completion, working closely with the Construction Manager, Site Agent, delivery teams, and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of Non-Infrastructure works, including civils packages, pumping station construction, MEICA installations, and large diameter pipework within compact asset boundaries.

Role Details

• Location: Peterborough

• Rate: £370-£420 per day

• Payment Type: CIS or LTD

• Duration: Work available until the end of the year

Key Responsibilities

Site & Project Management

• Manage day-to-day site operations, Supervisors, delivery teams, and subcontractors

• Support the successful delivery of civils, pumping station, and MEICA works

• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget

• Monitor programme performance and proactively manage delays or cost issues

• Coordinate suppliers, subcontractors, installation teams, and internal departments

• Attend internal and external progress meetings

• Drive productivity and minimise standing time across site teams

• Support the implementation of mitigation plans where programme slippage occurs

• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

• Take responsibility for SHEQ performance across projects

• Carry out and record regular SHEQ inspections and site audits

• Promote a positive health & safety culture and drive continuous improvement

• Ensure all works are completed in line with water industry regulations and approved standards

• Ensure all personnel hold relevant qualifications and training

• Maintain high standards of welfare facilities and site compliance

• Deliver and record inductions, briefings, and toolbox talks

• Complete weekly and monthly Health, Safety & Quality reporting

• Drive a “Zero Accidents / Incidents” culture across all activities

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Senior General Foreman within the water sector

• Strong background delivering civils and MEICA projects

• Experience managing subcontractors and site delivery teams

• Understanding of water industry regulations and standards

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• Ability to proactively manage programme and cost challenges

• SMSTS, CSCS, and relevant industry certifications preferred
