    About the Project
Join the Asset Care Project Delivery team, supporting the Mechanical asset care portfolio, with an initial focus on the WVP Compressor Project. This is a key role delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions that ensure operational safety, compliance, and reliability across a range of critical projects.

    Role Overview
As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will:

    • Produce engineering design work packages including specifications, drawings, analyses, verification, and assessments that meet legal, functional, and performance requirements.
    • Ensure designs are delivered on time, within cost, and to the agreed quality standards.
    • Work closely within a multi-disciplinary design team, collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Contribute to mechanical design of piping systems, machinery, and mechanical handling systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
    • Support the integration of designs into operational facilities, providing clear documentation and advice throughout the project lifecycle.

    Essential Experience & Skills

    • Experience working in a highly regulated industry, preferably nuclear.
    • Proven ability to deliver safe, fit-for-purpose, integrated mechanical designs.
    • Qualified and experienced Aveva E3D user.
    • Mechanical design expertise in piping systems (ASME B31.3, PER, PSSR) and machinery/mechanical handling (Supply of Machinery Regulations, LOLER, PUWER).
    • Producing design deliverables such as technical reports, drawings/layouts, installation method statements, and risk assessments.
    • Familiarity with British and ISO Standards.
    • Ability to liaise with stakeholders across all levels and disciplines.
    • Experience in multi-disciplinary, integrated design teams.

    Essential Qualifications

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum 2 years’ design delivery experience) OR HNC/HND with 5+ years design delivery experience.
    • Training/qualifications in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Vault.

    Desirable Experience

    • Experience in an asset care delivery function on operational facilities, supporting implementation during construction, installation, or commissioning.
    • Familiarity with Sellafield Practices, Processes, Engineering Standards, and Engineering Guides.
    • Experience responding to Engineering Queries (EQs) and Fault Observations (FOs).

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mechanical designer to work on high-profile asset care projects within a regulated, nuclear environment, contributing to safe and operable mechanical solutions across multiple projects.
