Job Title: Contract Structural Site Engineer – Bridges and Structures

Employment Type: Contract, Full-Time (Inside IR35)
Daily Rate: £400 – £460 per day
Duration: Project-Based (with potential for extension based on project needs)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Contract Structural Engineer to join our project team for a major infrastructure initiative in Gloucester. This role is focused on the structural design, quality assurance, and oversight of bridge and large structure elements. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing structural components of complex projects and a deep commitment to quality and compliance standards. This is a contract role paid on a daily basis, inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural Design & Analysis: Conduct design, analysis, and detailed specifications for bridge and structural elements, ensuring compliance with UK codes, Eurocodes, and project specifications.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Lead quality assurance and control activities for structural components, conducting regular compliance audits and quality checks to maintain safety and regulatory standards.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and review structural design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, construction managers, and contractors, to ensure seamless project integration and alignment on structural aspects.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to structural elements, preparing and maintaining risk assessment documentation.
- Project Management Support: Assist the project manager by tracking timelines, resources, and budgets for structural components, ensuring that project goals and deadlines are met.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE, IStructE, or similar professional recognition is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, particularly on projects involving bridges and large structures.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using industry-standard design and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, STAAD, and Revit.
- Knowledge of Standards: Strong understanding of UK design codes, Eurocodes, and CDM 2015 regulations.
- Communication: Effective communication skills, with experience in preparing technical reports and presenting findings to project stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous with documentation and quality checks, ensuring all structural elements meet the highest standards.
Additional Information
- IR35 Status: This role is classified as inside IR35, with all payments subject to PAYE deductions.
- Contract Length: This is a project-based role with the possibility of extension based on project requirements.
