Job Title: Freelance Supervisor – Earthworks
Location: Tuddenham, Norfolk
Start Date: ASAP (Target start: 29/06/2026)
Contract Duration: 8 months
Rate: £26 per hour
Weekly Hours: 50-70 hours per week
Weekend Work: Saturdays available (not essential)
Interviews: Taking place ASAP
Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Supervisor with strong earthworks experience to join a long-term infrastructure project based in Tuddenham, Norfolk. This is an 8 month freelance contract offering consistent hours and the opportunity for increased shifts from March onwards.
This role is freelance only and not available on a permanent or PAYE basis.
The successful candidate will oversee earthworks operations on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising earthworks activities including bulk excavation, cut & fill, and ground preparation
- Managing site operatives and subcontractors
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation and site procedures
- Overseeing safe digging practices and service avoidance
- Monitoring productivity and maintaining programme targets
- Conducting site briefings and toolbox talks
- Coordinating plant, labour and materials effectively
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience supervising earthworks operations (essential)
- SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
- EUSR certification (essential)
- CAT & Genny trained (essential)
- CSCS Gold Card (essential)
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work and service detection
- Ability to commit to 50-70 hours per week
