Section Engineer
Job Title: Section Engineer – Major STW Upgrade
Location: Luton
Rate: £450-£500 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: Freelance, long-term
The Project
We are recruiting for a Section Engineer to join a major Sewage Treatment Works (STW) upgrade project in Luton. This is a flagship AMP scheme involving large-scale civil, structural, and MEICA works.
This role will suit an experienced engineer looking to take responsibility for managing a defined section of a complex water infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead engineering control and setting out activities for your section of works.

Supervise site teams and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.

Manage QA, ITPs, and record keeping in line with project requirements.

Monitor programme and progress, reporting regularly to site management.

Resolve technical challenges on site and provide engineering support to the construction team.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.

Coordinate with design teams, stakeholders, and client representatives.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Section Engineer on civil engineering or water sector projects (STW/WTW desirable).

Strong knowledge of setting out, QA, and engineering documentation.

Experience managing subcontractors and supervising site teams.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Relevant qualifications (Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or similar).

CSCS card required; SMSTS/SSSTS desirable.
