Job Description – MEICA Engineer
Purpose
The MEICA Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) works throughout the project lifecycle, with a strong understanding of commissioning processes. Working closely with design, construction, suppliers and Thames Water, the role ensures MEICA works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, programme and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support MEICA design, installation and commissioning activities.
- Review technical documentation and ensure compliance with Thames Water standards, British Standards and WIMES.
- Liaise with designers, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives to resolve technical and interface issues.
- Support commissioning planning, testing, handover and the production of commissioning, O&M and as-built documentation.
- Identify and manage technical risks, opportunities and design coordination issues.
- Attend project, commissioning and site meetings as required.
- Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality.
- Undertake Authorised Person duties (Electrical or Mechanical) where appointed.
Skills & Experience
- HNC/HND, engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience delivering MEICA works on water or wastewater projects.
- Good understanding of the MEICA project lifecycle, including design, installation and commissioning.
- Experience reviewing RAMS, ITPs, quality documentation and commissioning procedures.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, legislation and safe systems of work.
Essential Qualifications
- CSCS/ECS Card.
- SMSTS.
- First Aid at Work.
- Blue Water Hygiene Card.
- Thames Water Passport.
Desirable
- Experience as an Electrical or Mechanical Authorised Person.
- Professional membership with IET, IMechE or similar (EngTech, IEng or CEng).
